out with September and in with october

Image
That time of the month again to swap my quilt epp in progress.  I fell a little behind this month because of this beautiful piece I stated after a purchase at the Rosehill Quilt show in September.  I finished all the hexies and have cut the linen for the pages. Looking forward to completing it this month Being the first week of October out with my crazy quilt I made two sprigs for the sides in flowers but they don’t fit in so they will wait until next time.. I went and bought some burgundy and have made some hexies for the outside border. Should look nice when completed October WIP Back to the pink grandmothers flower garden. I have one more row of 5 flowers then I will put strips down all sides around the quilt and finish off It’s a real shame you can’t see each flower boardered with a pink trail..never mind. My silly mistake. I am also working on other things. May have an update soon Tata for now

Well this last month certainly went very quickly and now it’s to change over to the next in line quilt. AUGUST WORK I HAVE NOW STARTED TO MAKE STRIPS  I’m not sure if I will put pink on pink and have a double strip of pink or go the other way with pink on the out side  see what next time I think. SEPTEMBER I am now going back to the multi colour hexies. I should get this top done this month..yayyyy I have started to pu5 the flowers on the out side. I will then go around with the mustard to finish it off  So that’s the months change Tata for now Robyn

My first memory quilt

Image
Hiya Over the last few months I have been constructing a memory quilt for my brother and sister in law who have just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary and renewal of their vows.  This was a very special occasion as my dear sister in law was diagnosed last year with stage 4 ovarian cancer that recently has reared its very ugly head again.  I really can’t understand why the really good people in life have to suffer while there are so much horrid people who just get to live their lives with good health. On the 17th September 3 of my children 9 of my grandchildren,my mum, husband and myself all made the trip to Brookvale to celebrate “Life, Family and Friends” with Clare and Peter. I printed a selection of family photos thru the 27years which made them Auntie, uncle, mother, father, great auntie and great uncle. It was a lovely weekend with tears and happiness and sadness. I had a few challenges along the way but they loved the quilt so I was very happy.

A few lovely days away at a Forage slow Stitch Retreat

I am just back from a lovely few days away at a wonderful retreat at the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba with 30 like minded women doing a slow stitch retreat with Lisa Mattock. Starting at 10 am Tuesday the 26th April 2022 I heading up to Katoomba bags packed not really knowing what to expect as this was my very first retreat..over the years I have a few classes on different crafts but this was fairly new to me.. We settles into the ballroom which was nicely set out for us.i got to sit next to the most delightful lady by the name of Marjory..we hit it off from the first 5 mins which was so good..both really quite new to the slow stitch scene.. Our first intro was to start stitching a retreat bag which Lisa had supplied.. We had a guest speaker for the day Kathy Doghty from Material Obbession who gave a talk about her quilts..while I love quilts and quilt making I’m not into a lot of bright fussy fabrics. I’m a lover of French General type colourings and pastels  I seem to alway...

Farewell to my darling dad

Image
Well after a long struggle of 2 and half years my darling dad took his last breath infront of me and a couple of other family members on the 30 th October 2020. I never knew the feelings that laid ahead of me up until this day. The day after his funeral. I just couldn’t attend his private family funeral as I just couldn’t go thru it..to see his coffin sitting there and nothing I could do about it just the pain of knowing what was going to happen was unbearable so instead I decided to come to Bondi for a few days and spend time reminiscing my darling dad.  I left home on an early morning train to the city. I got to Bondi around lunch and after checking into my apartment I went and did some exploring  This was were I stayed at Bondi Meriton Apartments. Monday morning the 9th November I decided to walk to Bondi which was a fair walk but all down hill  I decided to have a mocha at MacDonald and had noticed a rather large aboriginal lady ahead of me walking and she also ...
